Ivy Park’s Second Collection with Adidas is a Whole Lot of Drip

By Chichi Azozie

In 2016, Beyoncé collaborated with Topshop owner, Philip Green to launch her athleisure brand, Ivy Park. After Green was accused of sexual and racial harassment in 2018, Beyoncé’s company, Parkwood entertainment took over the brand by buying Green out of it.

Thanks to the new venture with Adidas in April 2019, Ivy Park had a home once again. In a press release, the Homecoming Queen said. “This is the partnership of a lifetime for me. Adidas has had tremendous success in pushing creative boundaries. We share a philosophy that puts creativity, growth and social responsibility at the forefront of the business. I look forward to re-launching and expanding Ivy Park on a truly global scale with a proven, dynamic leader.”

For over a year now, she has been working on this collection which she called Drip 2. Nine months after the first collection was released, a larger second collection was set to hit the stores.

The new Ivy Park collections offered effortless drip with their fitted jumpsuits, jackets, and more. This second launch differs from the first in a few ways.

Firstly, the apparel offers more inclusive sizing, ranging from XXXS to 4X, unlike the first launch, which only offered XS-XL. Coral, neon yellow, mint, and lime green served as the second collection’s colour palette, a complete opposite of the original monochrome cream and maroon colours that graced her first collection.

Secondly, the new launch also expanded their footwear selection, upgrading classic Adidas silhouettes, such as the Ultra Boost, with innovative lacing.

It is very obvious that Beyoncé was born for this. Full of creativity and highly innovative.  She said “My mother instilled in me the idea that creativity starts with taking a leap of faith, telling your fears they are not allowed where you are headed. And I’m proud to do that with Adidas, It incorporates my personal style and expands to include something for everyone. I love experimenting with fashion, mixing high and low, sportswear with couture, even masculine and feminine.”

The 35-piece collection pomised to upgrade her fans’ wardrobe with Bey-approved sportswear, luxe lounging essentials, sleek dresses, accessories, and sneakers. Prices start at $25 for belt bags, beanies, and socks and go up to $170 for clothing. The designs are fresh, modern, and surprisingly affordable.
