18 Years Old Hijab Model, Miss Shatu Garko Emerges the 44th Miss Nigeria

Shatu Garko, an 18-year-old model made history by becoming the first Hijab-wearing contestant to win the Miss Nigeria beauty pageant. Shatu was the youngest contestant and beat 17 others to emerge a winner.

Shatu loves horse riding and is passionate about proving that religion and culture are not barriers to following one’s dreams and achieving whatever a person sets out to achieve.

Miss Nigeria is an annual pageant showcasing positive attributes of Nigerian women and awarding university scholarships. The winner portrays exemplary qualities and serves as a role model for young women in the country. This year, the event was held on December 17, 2021, at Landmark Centre, Victora Island, Lagos.
