Kim K stepped out at Met Gala covered completely head to toe in an all-black Balenciaga fit which left a lot of her fans confused.
The 40-year-old Reality star spoke about her outfit on Instagram as she simply wrote: “What’s more American than a T-shirt head to toe?!”. This is in tone with the theme of this year’s gala: “American Independence”. It was meant to give attendees a wide range of ideas to play with, from founding fathers in powdered wigs and star-spangled gowns, to Lady Liberty cosplay and, of course, all things red, white, and blue.
In other words, Kim ‘s expression through her outfit was proved that patriotic looks really can go beyond just stars and stripes. The look featured a long-sleeve turtleneck bodysuit with an oversized t-shirt dress with a long train, rounding off the look with boots, gloves and a mask over her face and head.
The masked man next to her is not Kanye. It was Demna Gvasalia, the creative director of Balenciaga. Kim also revealed his identity on her Instagram Story. It is also very likely that Kim drew the inspiration for her look from Donda: Kanye’s new album.
It was Kanye who introduced Kim to Demna and was instrumental in the newly formed relationship between her and Balenciaga. Check out her look on arriving for the Met Gala.
Kim had credited Kanye with teaching her how to be “true to herself”. She explained “I got to a point and maybe being in a relationship with Kanye for a decade and someone that absolutely didn’t care about likability factor or what any of perception of him was – as long as he was true to himself, that taught me so much in the best way of just being me and living in the moment.”
