Happy birthday to the incredible singer and actress of her time, Whitney Houston. Born on August 9, 1963. She is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with sales of over 200 million records worldwide. Her powerful and soulful vocal performances are an inspiration to many other singers.

Whitney Houston grew up surrounded by singers. Her mom, Cissy was a backup gospel singer. Her cousin Dionne Warwick was also a very popular pop singer in the ’60s. With her, it was not a matter of if she will be a star, it was when. It was very obvious. Right from a very young age. She was first noticed when she sang in her church choir, words quickly spread around town about the girl with an angelic voice. But her mom insisted and made her finish high school before pursuing a career in music.

Her first record label was with Arista Record and the fame followed through. She became the fastest-selling debut female artist in Billboard history. Ever since then, she has soured until her untimely death at the age of 49 on Feb 12, 2012.
