The 63rd Grammys was aired today, 14th March 2021. The awards recognised and celebrated achievements in the music industry. Just like other events lately, it was virtual even though a few celebrities turned up on the red carpet. The host for this year was Trevor Noah
The Grammy award is a big one in that it celebrates global talents. Majority carries the vote is the method to win this award. The members vote on the nominee in each of the categories that they believe should win. The nominee with the highest votes wins the award.
But the juice is that our very own music stars Davido and Wizkid bagged prestigious awards from the ceremony.
Burna Boy was nominated for the same category way back in 2019 but lost to Angelique Kidjo. Fast forward to 2021, he won in the same category. The Grammys described Twice As Tall as “a masterclass in the vibe and hustle that have made Burna Boy an international musical force”. “He continues to torch limitations, seamlessly blending styles and genres and fearlessly fuelling the fire heating the melting pot of pop, Afrobeat, dancehall, reggae and more,” it said.
